Charlie's Squirrel Story

Charlie and I recently read a book called Just One together.

From the back cover: Little Digger and Old-and-Gray have picked too many blackberries to carry home. While Old-and-Gray fetches something to carry them in, Little Digger stays behind. But when some unexpected visitors come by, too many berries soon become very few! Sam McBratney, author of the bestseller Guess How Much I Love You, tells a story as sweet as a ripe berry..

After we read the book we looked at more pictures of squirrels gathering food for the winter. Here is the story Charlie dictated to me afterward....

Once Upon a time Charlie had a pet squirrel and a little guinea pig named Ginger. A squirrel has corn. He eats it. A squirrel has another corn. It delivers it to a little kid who is hungry for corn

The squirrel tried to lie down to hear the sound of the wind. In the morning he tried to find nuts in the spring and in the fall, but not Christmas because it was snowy out and cold and you can go outside and slide on a sled. The End.
