Our Christmas/Winter themed books are the first of the holiday "decor" to come out of storage each year. Now that advent has begun we will be revisiting all of our old favorites. This week we will be looking forward to celebrating St.Nicholas day (December 6th) and reading from our collection of books about him.
Today we enjoyed Country Angel Christmas by Tomie De'Paola. This whimsical book focuses on the wonderful preparations that lead up to Christmas day. Here we find St. Nicholas in heaven giving guidance to the littlest country angels as they search for the perfect contribution to the Christmas celebration. An idea from St. Nicholas provides what everyone has forgotten-starlight-as the angels pull a brilliant star across the sky to light the procession to the creche.
After we enjoyed the book, we baked some starlight of our own.
