Advent Reading-The Miracle Of Saint Nicholas

The Miracle Of Saint Nicholas by Gloria Whelan is a gorgeous story of how a small Russian village comes together to create their own Christmas miracle. It has been over 60 years since their church was closed by communist soldiers, but the questions of a young boy inspire his family and friends to celebrate mass at Saint Nicholas once again. This is one of my favorites every year!

For our go-along activity today, I had the kids try their hand at Icon-style painting, based on one of the illustrations in the book. They used some tiny canvases I bought back in the fall, and acrylic paints.

St. Nicholas by (from L to R) William, Ben and Charlie.
