Pinewood Derby 2009

We had a tiring but fun day today at the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. Both Ben and Will did really well and were excited to come home with trophies and the chance to go on to district competitions. Ben placed first for speed in his division and Will took second in his!


This year Ben was able to do the most work ever on his car all by himself. He designed, cut out, sanded, painted and re-painted the body and polished axles for a loooong time with but little help from Steve. Great job Ben! This is Ben's last year in Cub Scouts before moving up to Boy Scouts, and thus his last year of derby racing. He's a little sad, but pleased that he did so well his last time on the track.


This is Will's second year racing and his first time winning a trophy! He worked hard on his car too, coming up with the design and colors and painting it. He said he can't wait for next year! Well, if he can wait until next weekend, he (and Ben) get the chance to do it all over again at the district level. Wish 'em luck!!



Edited on April 4th,2009 to add: No one received trophies at the district level, but Ben did place 4th in his age group and Will 6th in his age group, so they still did very well!!
